Population Served: Seniors Memory Disorders Unit : Seniors 65 years of age and older, who are medically stable and have a severe or complex aged related mental illness.
Individuals with a complex mental illness, two or more psychiatric diagnoses; co-morbidity with either psychiatric or physical needs causing excessive disability; exhibits risk of harm; exhibits major challenging behaviours.
Neuropsychiatry Rehabilitation Service: Individuals between 18 and 65 years of age who are presenting with a serious mental illness and a brain disorder with associated challenging behaviours. They must be medically stable, and must reside within WMHC primary service area.

Seniors Memory Disorders Unit includes a 23-bed inpatient unit which provides specialized services to meet the mental health needs of clients with dementia, including effective management of challenging behaviour.
SMDU offers a full range of specialized psychogeriatric resources to address the assessment, diagnostic, treatment and transitional care needs of seniors with complex mental health challenges. A comprehensive assessment is provided by a multidisciplinary team who focuses on identification of mental health issues, clarify diagnosis, and identify possible factors that contribute to challenging behaviours. An individualized care plan is developed to manage symptomatology; address support needs and develop management techniques and provide education for clients, families and caregivers. Discharge planning focuses on transitional care to assist the clients return to the most independent living arrangement possible.

Neuropsychiatry Rehabilitation Service includes a 25-bed inpatient unit which provides specialized assessment, consultation, treatment, rehabilitation and behavioural programming to individuals with a serious mental illness, a brain disorder and associated behavioural challenges.
NSR inpatient services include specialized multidisciplinary assessments; diagnostic clarification; medication review; behavioural interventions; individualized programming – life skills training, individual and group therapies, therapeutic recreation and vocational planning; family support, education and consultation; inclusion of community partners in planning and treatment process; discharge planning and community integration.

The Memory Clinic is a multi-specialty clinic dedicated to the early diagnosis and intervention for individuals with memory disorders. This Clinic provides comprehensive multi-specialty assessment, communication of the diagnosis, early psychosocial intervention, referrals to community support programs, and recommendations for ongoing dementia management.
